New Trail Will Connect Downtown Des Moines to Jordan Creek area

After 18 years of negotiations, Des Moines will mark the completion of a significant phase of the trail system by adding connections that will take cyclists from Jordan Creek Town Center all the way to Downtown Des Moines. The project could be completed by year's end.

Greater Des Moines Sports Community Rallies for 2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games


2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games LogoHot on the heels of West Des Moines' own Shawn Johnson bringing home the gold from the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Des Moines gets ready to host the 2009 AAU Junior Olympic Games. This annual competition is the largest national multi-sport event for youth in the United States. The Des Moines Area Sports Commission (DMASC) is hosting the 2009 Games.
