Do More...Meet in Des Moines

Des Moines is a cosmopolitan city with small-town charm! It’s central location in the heart of the Midwest makes it accessible and an easy drive on I-35 and I-80. Greater Des Moines’ renaissance includes $2.85 billion in development with a new riverwalk, science center, central library designed by a world-class architect, 17,000-seat arena and 100,000 square foot exhibit hall.

Des Moines is also a great place to do business. Over 1,000 planners choose Greater Des Moines as their ideal location every year, and Forbes Magazine recently ranked Des Moines the Fourth Best Place for business and careers. Businesses operating in Des Moines include Principal Financial, Wells Fargo, Monsanto and Meredith Corporation.

Des Moines in the New York Times

The New York Times says “Des Moines is Cool,” and we think once you’ve stayed here you will too. In a Dec. 2 article, reporter Adam Nagourney writes about the changing face of downtown where old auto dealerships are now a five-block green parkland. “The park is the gateway to one of the more striking works of architecture in any medium-sized American city,” Nagourney writes, referring to the central library.

He also gives props to the East Village. He says, the East Village streets were “bustling with boutiques, bookstores, coffee shops, culinary stores and Smash, an edgy T-shirt shop,” while Lucca, a restaurant in the heart of the neighborhood “had more panache and better food” than many places in Washington, D.C.
